  15. AFTER READING THE LICENSE AND WARRANTY INFORMATION BELOW, FOLLOW THE
  16. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO INSTALL CHARTIST:

  18. Place the diskette into the appropriate drive on your system.
  19. From the Windows Program Manager, choose the "File Run..." command.
  20. In the Command Line field of the File Run dialog, type the drive
  21. letter, followed by a colon, then type "\install.exe" into the field.
  22. For example:
  23.     b:\install.exe
  24. Click on OK, and the install process should initiate.
  25.  
  26. If the uninstalled distribution already exists on your hard drive,
  27. (you unzipped it to there, for example) you can install from there by
  28. entering the full path name to install.exe in that directory.

  122. You may use The Chartist Package for evaluation purposes for a period
  123. not to exceed thirty (30) days. If you continue using all or any part

  128. the thirty (30) day evaluation period. If you do so you are violating

  277. All sample files were created with an HP LaserJet IIIP printer
  278. selected.  All text uses the fonts available with that printer.
  279. If you print these charts using a different printer, the fonts
  280. may not map into optimal selections on that printer,
  281. especially if the smaller fonts are not available.
  282.  
  283. You can change the typeface of all symbols in a chart at the same time with
  284. the Symbol Text Fonts command (Tool Bar button with the single "F" in it).
  285. Select all symbols (Symbol Select All), then click the "F" button. From the
  286. font dialog, select a typeface name that you want. If you only change that,
  287. all other font properties will remain unchanged. You can do this with any
  288. group of selected symbols.

  294. Where the Tool Bar Icons Are Defined
  295. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  296. Each Tool Bar Icon button selects a command from the menu. To see
  297. what commands are tied to the Tool Bar, press F1 from the main Chartist
  298. Window. This brings up the top level Help Index for Chartist.  There is
  299. a Tool Bar Topic that you can click on, and that will tell you what you
  300. need to know.

  302. Printing Problems
  303. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  304. Chartist uses a lot of different text and graphics commands for drawing
  305. to displays and printers. Some printer drivers distributed with Windows 3.1
  306. have bugs in them (!), causing incomplete drawing of symbols or lines at times.
  307. We know that the HP LaserJet II series (and clones), and some HP LaserJet III
  308. series printers can exhibit these problems. The drivers released in the
  309. fall of 1992 and later correct the known printer driver bugs with respect
  310. to Chartist and Chartist-2. You need to get these drivers from Microsoft.
  311. If you have access to Compuserve, they are available in the Microsoft
  312. Software Library. Download the file WDL.TXT for an up to date listing of
  313. the available driver updates. You should also be able to get the latest
  314. driver from your printer manufacturer.

  318. Library Shapes
  319. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  320. A common question asked is about additional shapes to those
  321. available in the standard shape file. We generally add shapes to
  322. the shape file on user request. So far the additions have been very
  323. simple, and we have not charged extra for this service. Just about any
  324. shape that can be represented as one or more polygons or polylines
  325. can be quickly generated and added to the shape file. When you register
  326. just describe or sketch out the shape you want, and we will do our best
  327. to accomodate you.

  329. If you still want to "roll your own", there is a shape library technical
  330. document and support package available to registered users. Creating shapes
  331. is fairly technical, but the standard shape library provides many examples
  332. that you can build upon. The shape library technical document with 6 months
  333. of technical support for making shapes cost an extra $25 (plus applicable
  334. taxes).
